Dental HMO
Dental HMO insurance is the cheapest type of dental insurance policy available. Although a Discount Dental Plan will more often than not be less expensive than a Dental HMO plan, it is not an actual insurance policy. Sometimes referred to as 'capitation plans,' Dental HMO plans operate in very much the same manner as their health insurance counterparts. Policyholders are required to pay a reasonably low monthly premium for which they will be covered for a plethora of basic oral health services. In accordance with the insurance contract, Dental HMO policyholders are required to remain within a relatively small network of licensed dentists and facilities. If you choose to visit a dentist outside of the HMO network, your insurance provider will not assist you with any part of the costs.
Although Dental HMO policyholders must pay co-payments anytime they partake in office visits, they can occasionally receive free oral health care for minor, routine services such as check-ups and cleanings as a part of their coverage.
As with all forms of insurance, costs can vary significantly from provider to provider, but to give you an idea, a standard Dental HMO plan should cost you on average between $6 and $20 per month.
